 How Does Constitutional Facial Acupuncture Work?

  In Chinese medical theory when the Qi (life force) is flowing freely throughout the body, blood circulation is good and brings nutrients to the internal organs and to the skin. As a result the skin tone is good, fluid metabolism is healthy and there won’t be dark circles under the eyes nor facial puffiness. The eyes will be clear and bright.

In constitutional facial rejuvenation, the focus is firstly on correcting any constitutional imbalances to increase energy, relieve stress, increase vitality and enhance the immune system. Acupuncture is used to relax facial muscles that are causing wrinkles, tighten loose skin, and also to encourage collagen production. The needles are inserted into the skin and cause “micro injuries” which stimulate the production of collagen. In this way facial acupuncture can soften lines and prevent wrinkles.

Lifestyle is very important in maintaining health and for aging gracefully. Dietary and lifestyle adjustments can greatly increase the effects of treatment. • You will fill in an intake form and specify which areas of the face and/or body you are concerned about.
• Then a Chinese herbal poultice will be applied according to the nature of your skin followed by insertion of needles into the face specifically for treatment of wrinkles, flaccid skin, and tense muscles.
• You will be examined using the Traditional Chinese Medical model of pulse and tongue diagnosis as well as Hara diagnosis.
• Acupuncture needles will be inserted into the legs and arms to treat constitutional imbalance.
• Then a Chinese herbal poultice will be applied according to the nature of your skin followed by insertion of needles into the face specifically for treatment of wrinkles, flaccid skin, and tense muscles.
• The needles are maintained for 20 to 30 minutes.
• When the needles are removed, either a facial masque and/or a special “crème vital” will be applied followed by a hydrating spritz .The session typically lasts 1 to 1.5 hours and you leave feeling relaxed and revitalized.
